PARK CITY, UTAH (July 14, 2010) – On the heels of a fifth place finish at Infineon Raceway and an 11th place finish at Toyota Speedway, Michael Self and the #88 Motorway Motorsports Chevrolet will be on the hunt for another strong run this weekend in Portland.

Self has moved into eighth in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West standings, just 38 points out of fifth.  He is also third in the Rookie of the Year rankings.

The impressive drive at the winding 1.99 mile Infineon Raceway has the team optimistic for a similar story at Portland.  Self leaned on his international karting experience to navigate through the field from 22nd on the grid and into the top-five.

Portland International Raceway presents one of the fastest venues the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West visits all year and comes at a busy time for the entire Motorway Motorsports organization.

On July 3, Self drove from 18th starting position to an 11th place effort at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, Calif.  On July 11, teammate Jamie Dick earned a career-best 16th place finish in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

This weekend, Dick will compete on Thursday and Friday at Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis.  Saturday will see Self participate in a full afternoon of practice at Portland International Raceway in Portland, Oregon.  Sunday’s activities include morning qualifying and the “Bi-Mart Salute to the Troops 125” fires off at 3:05 p.m.

A solid drive will likely move Self into the top-five in the points and give him championship potential with races at Montana, Colorado, Utah, Roseville, and Phoenix left to race on the calendar.

Fans can watch a condensed, hour-long version of the race from Portland on SPEED, July 29, at 3 p.m. PT.
